Description
The incubation period of COVID-19 ranges between 1 and 14 days, with the majority of cases manifesting within 3 to 5 days. The host immune system reacts to the infection by producing specific IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 and is detectable in COVID-19 patients during the symptomatic phase of the disease after sometimes RNA may no longer be detectable. The persistence of IgG antibodies allows identification of people who had been infected in the past, and likely have recovered from the illness. It is unknown if IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 confer immunity to infection. The detection of IgG assay plays an important role in the disease surveillance.
